Upgrade International took place at Eyebeam Atelier in New York on September 24 & 25th, 2005. Participating artists and curators included Kate Armstrong, Cézanne Charles, Catherine D'Ignazio, Jo-Anne Green, Suhjung Hur, Yael Kanarek, Liz Slagus, Tamiko Thiel, Helen Thorington, tobias c. van Veen, Michelle Kasprzak, Robb Mitchell, Mushon Zer-Aviv, and others.

People from all 10 of the Upgrade nodes came together to discuss the future of the network and to think about some of the things we can do to build media arts community and events in our cities. We came up with a really vast list of things, some of which will only be revealed in the fullness of time, but other things are starting to happen already. In the latter category is the decision to put together an exhibition each year that will be hosted by one of the Upgrade nodes and that will feature the work of one or two artist from each city. We are hard at work on the 2006 show, which will be hosted by the Unititled Artspace and the University of Oklahoma School of Art in Oklahoma City. We've also set up a site for the International network . At the moment it's primarily links to the individual sites, but there is some good information about the artists and organizations involved and the kinds of things they are doing.
